Scott Steilen Scott Steilen is a Principal and Managing Director of Warnick+Company (Illinois), LLC. He has spent considerable time advising his clients in the areas of hospitality operations, process improvement, asset management, operational and investment strategy, market and feasibility analysis, litigation support, and transactional activities. Mr. Steilen’s client list ranges from independent owner/operators of hospitality assets to global hospitality companies. He has also provided advisory services to institutional investors, lenders, developers, and high net worth individuals.
Prior to founding Warnick+Company’s Chicago office, Mr. Steilen was a Senior Manager and Central Region Practice Director for Ernst & Young’s Hospitality Services Group. He served a key role in shaping and defining the strategy, direction and operating plan for the group. Mr. Steilen was highly involved in the group’s capital markets efforts and served as the national service director of E&Y’s Operational Enhancement practice. Before Ernst & Young, Mr. Steilen was a Senior Associate with HVS International, a lodging advisory and valuation firm based in Mineola, New York. Mr. Steilen has significant experience in providing clients an opportunity to substantially improve the overall operations, processes, and value of their existing assets or companies. By employing an approach that is less focused on analyzing, benchmarking and reporting on an asset or company’s issues, and more focused on diagnosing and implementing viable solutions immediately, Mr. Steilen has helped clients achieve substantial, tangible success in improving their business. Mr. Steilen has also assisted clients in the areas of development, management contract selection and negotiation, project capitalization, and asset management. At the height of industry merger and acquisition activity of the late 1990’s, Mr. Steilen was involved in varying capacities in nearly every major M&A transaction, including the management of due diligence teams for two significant corporate acquisitions. Mr. Steilen is a graduate of Michigan State University, with a degree from its School of Hospitality Business and an emphasis in finance. He is a member of the International Society of Hospitality Consultants (ISHC), an invitation-only society comprised of prominent hospitality consultants from around the world. He has written numerous articles on various industry topics and is a frequent speaker at industry functions. |
